To think logically-assembling fabrics the correct way around
How to use a sewing machine to sew a straight stitch to construct a basic seam
The names of different tools and machines used in sewing
How to thread a sewing machine and solve common problems
AIMS AND OUTCOMES
By learning and applying all of these skills, your child will be able to create a cushion in the shape of the initial letter of their name - or any letter they want to create!
This course has been designed as a stepping stone to making clothes. Although the design of the cushion appears simple, marking, cutting, and sewing fabric correctly is a complex skill. By completing this project, your child will develop their skills ready to make clothes in later courses. With guidance during this project, your child’s confidence in sewing will grow.
YOUR DESIGN CHOICES
Please browse the below fabric pack options with your child, as you will need to select the one they want to use to make their letter cushion with at the checkout. Please note, there are limited amounts of each fabric pack available, so if your chosen one is not visible at the checkout, this means it has sold out and you will need to select another. If your child would like to bring their own fabric, please select this option at the checkout. Please ensure it is a sheeting or poplin style fabric made of either cotton or polyester. They can mix and match different fabrics, and in total they must have two pieces of 50 x 50cm or one piece of 50 x 100cms.
